CHICKEN REPUBLIC RECEIVES AWARD AT INAUGURAL AKWA IBOM STATE ENVIRONMENT AWARDS

 

ChickenRepublic_AkwaIbomAwardsOn Tuesday 5 October 2021, Mr. Olawuyi Kazeem, Head of Quality & Environmental Health Standards, represented Chicken Republic at the inaugural “Keep Akwa Ibom Beautiful Awards”, where Chicken Republic was the proud recipient of the “Most Environment Friendly Eatery” Award.

The KAIBA awards, which are the first of its kind in the state and by any state in Nigeria, recognise the outstanding contributions by individuals and corporates in the state to improve the environment. The aim of the awards is to encourage the participation of residents, citizens and corporate bodies in environmental protection, beautification, and sustainability.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Conference room of the Ministry, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Sir Charles Udoh described the awards as the first of its kind in recognising and rewarding outstanding contributions made by individuals and corporate organizations in the state towards improving the environment and promoting healthy standards.

Commenting on the award, Mr. David Butler, Managing Director of Food Concepts Plc says, “It is a great honour for Food Concepts Plc to receive this prestigious award.  We understand that to be a most loved brand – we must serve the communities and environments in which we operate. As such, we feel privileged to be a brand that can make a positive impact.”

He added, “It is our duty and passion to care. We cannot and must not turn a blind eye and hope that others will do the work that is required. In Nigeria and the world over, there is much work to be done to ensure a bright and sustainable future for our children and for all future generations to come.”

Food Concepts are committed to the ongoing exploration and adoption of greener solutions and are currently working on several initiatives which include:

  • The introduction of renewable energy, where they have been prototyping solar energy since 2020.
  • The elimination of plastic by adopting biodegradable packaging materials and collaborating with partners/vendors on recycling project.

In addition to these initiatives, Food Concepts are fully committed to creating jobs and growing the Nigerian economy by employing over 4,000 staff and create many more local opportunities for local vendors and suppliers.
