Job Role/Title: Restaurant Manager

Reporting to: Area Manager

Job Objective:

  • To be responsible for the total management of the restaurant business in order to achieve and maintain targeted business parameter.
  • To ensure the effective training and development of all staff and management.
  • To manage shift operations maintaining the highest possible standards of customer service, product quality and restaurant cleanliness.

Functional Competencies/Requirements:

  • To carry out a fully operational role as represented in the role of an Assistant Manager
  • Maintain overall quality and service standards
  • Follow up on management team shift control issues
  • Financial planning
  • Develop budget plans and tactics to achieve targets
  • P & L management (achievement of sales and profit targets as per budgets)
  • Keep regular contact with customers to obtain feedback on service, food quality and staff friendliness using customer comment cards
  • Identify potential in staff and managers and provide individuals with development training to maximize their skills
  • Carry out staff interviews and Induction Training
  • Keep abreast of local competition and develop plans to retain customers
  • Local restaurant Marketing analysis – liaise with the Marketing department and Ops Manager on implementation of new ideas
  • Work with other local Restaurant Managers to develop local offers

Educational Qualifications/Experience:

1) Minimum of university or its equivalent (degree in Food Science, Micro – Biology, Food Technology, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field)

2) Minimum 2 years work experience as Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager in QSR/related companies

Job Role/Title: Assistant Manager

Reporting to: Restaurant Manager

Job Objectives:

  • To manage shift operations maintaining the highest possible standards of customer service, product quality and restaurant cleanliness.
  • To assist in the overall management of the restaurant to ensure regulation of costs and the maximization of sales and profitability.
  • To act as second-in-command and in partnership with the Restaurant Manager, to provide direction to both staff and management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out a fully operational role as represented in the role of an Shift Manager
  • Implement OSC and/or Audit action plans
  • Check that daily paperwork is being completed correctly by staff
  • Prepare daily & weekly paperwork
  • Ensure cash security systems in place and are being adhered to and conduct staff searches as deemed necessary
  • Ensure compliance to portion sizes and waste targets
  • Be a role model for great Customer Service “lead by example”
  • Complete monthly trading area surveys
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly
  • Carry out Absence and Disciplinary management
  • Enforce adherence to defined uniform standards on each shift
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings
  • Ensure suggestive selling consistently n each shift by cashiers
  • Investigate incidents and implement action plans
